Interesting Stuff - Did You Know?

Restore the smell of aromatic cedar for the short term by lightly sanding with a 180 or 220 grit sand paper.  Also, an aromatic cedar extract is marketed as a restorer for just such purposes in several of the woodworking supply catalogs.

Hardwood plywood veneer thickness is about 1/36" before sanding or roughly the same thickness of 4-5 sheets of normal copy paper.

Kitchen cabinet doors may warp during the fall and winter seasons when the home heating systems are in use.  The heat will dry the air causing a temporary wood imbalance resulting in warpage.  Using a humidifier will add moisture to the air to alleviate this temporary, seasonal warping.

Medium Density Fiber Board (MDF) is an excellent product for cabinet doors. It is a good substrate for hardwood veneer due to its smooth surface and uniform thickness, and it can be easily machined. Used without a veneer, it can be painted. In either case, it has good screw holding characteristics, and is often used as cabinet door material. MDF is heavy and larger doors will require   additional hinges.

Installing solid floor planking over a cement base.  First, install 3/4" plywood panels as a sub-floor base; then nail the solid flooring strips to the plywood.  Solid flooring should never be glued to a concrete sub-floor.
